Halfway house ordering

Order before the turn. Ready at the halfway house.

The turn is a ten-minute window, and a line at the halfway house window eats most of it. With FairwayTab, golfers order from their cart on the 7th or 8th hole, and the food is waiting when they arrive. The window hands out orders instead of taking them.

How halfway house ordering works

01 · ORDER EARLY

From the cart

Golfers scan the QR in their cart a few holes out, order and pay.

02 · PRINT

Ticket at the halfway house

The order prints on the halfway house printer or shows on its kitchen display, with the cart number.

03 · READY

The phone says “ready”

When staff mark it ready, the golfer’s phone says where to collect it — “pick it up at the halfway house.”

04 · PLAY ON

Grab and go

The group collects, makes the 10th tee on time, and pace of play survives the turn.

Pickup, delivery, or both

Name your pickup spot

Set your service style to pickup and call the spot “the halfway house” — every status message and notification uses your words.

Switch on a schedule

Deliver to the hole while the beverage cart is out, then switch to pickup at the halfway house automatically when the cart crew goes home.

Kitchen display or printer

Tickets go to Star CloudPRNT thermal printers over the internet, and to kitchen screens that show only that station’s orders.

Tee-box signs

Put a QR sign on the 8th tee as well as in every cart. Every place a golfer can order is its own code, with no limit on spots.

Why the halfway house is where pace of play is won or lost

A foursome that waits in line at the turn, orders, then waits again for a grilled sandwich can easily lose the ten minutes the starter built into the tee sheet. Multiply that across a full Saturday and the back nine backs up.

Ordering ahead moves the waiting to the 8th fairway, where golfers are playing anyway. The kitchen sees orders arrive spread out over the front nine instead of all at once at the window, and the person at the window spends their time handing food out.

Questions operators ask

Can golfers order ahead and pick up at the turn?

Yes. Set your service style to pickup with “the halfway house” as the pickup spot, and golfers order from the cart and collect when they arrive.

Can we offer both delivery and halfway house pickup?

Yes, on a schedule: for example delivery to the hole during the afternoon and pickup at the halfway house in the evening. The golfer always sees which one applies before they order.

Will ordering ahead slow down pace of play?

It does the opposite: golfers order while they play and collect in seconds, instead of queuing at the window during the turn.

Do we need new hardware at the halfway house?

No. A Star CloudPRNT thermal printer, or a tablet as a kitchen display, is all it takes — no on-site PC.

Do golfers have to download an app?

No. Golfers scan the QR code in their cart and order in their phone’s browser — no app, no account, no password. That matters on a golf course: nobody wants to install something on the 6th tee to buy a sports drink.

How much does it cost? Are there per-order fees?

FairwayTab Course is $349/mo flat for an 18-hole course, driving ranges are $199/mo, and multi-course clubs and resorts are $549/mo. Orders are unlimited and there is no per-order platform commission. FairwayTab Pay is 3.5% of each order’s subtotal with card processing included and no setup fee; or bring your own processor and keep your own merchant rates after a one-time $299 setup. Every plan starts with 30 days free.
